What is your job title?
Midwest Sales, Business Development and Project Management

How long have you been with Heartland Tank Services?
14 years

What do you do at Heartland?
I try to help customers solve problems or possible issues they may have as far as storing liquid fertilizer. Help them come up with answers that are possible for everyone.

Your favorite thing about working at Heartland:
The ability to travel and meet good honest wholesome American people.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?
One would be CPI over in Hastings, Nebraska. We built 8 tanks, all went up without a hitch. They all have internal liners, one is insulated. That was a good one. We had a couple of crews there at one time. We have a couple of other multiple tank locations near Sydney, Nebraska, and then also in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Best piece of advice you’ve gotten:
You don’t have to know everything, you just need to know where to find the answer or who to ask.

What do you like to do outside the office to relax?
Mostly spend time with the family, going to college football games or the lake.

Favorite author:
Tom Clancy. Whatever he writes.

Favorite movies:
Any of the Jack Ryan movies.

Hobbies:
I like to fish and hunt when I have the time to do that.

Favorite Food:
Mexican. The spicier the better.

Favorite Travel Destination:
We usually try to go snow skiing once a year. We’ll end up in Colorado or New Mexico to do that. But one of my favorite vacations that we’ve recently had with the family was in Cancun, Mexico.

What College did you Attend?
I went to Montgomery, Alabama, to Southern Technical College. That’s where I learned drafting and design. Then I got my associate’s degree at Tulsa Community College. After that I went to OSU-Tulsa which was really 4 different colleges – OSU, Oklahoma University, Northeastern University, and Langston University. Langston held the contract for Business Administration, so my bachelor’s degree is from Langston University.

Favorite Sports Team:
Oklahoma State, that’s where all my girls go to college. I pay Mike Gundy’s salary every year. I do like OU, just not when they’re playing OSU. Now that they’re moving from the Big 12 I can actually root for OU again.

If you could give a younger person career advice, what would it be?
Never be afraid to act on your ideas. If you see something that should work better, don’t be afraid to voice it. Always listen to those with more experience.

Parting words:
If you’re looking for a good career with good people, the Agriculture industry in America is a good place to be. Good, wholesome American people where your word still means something. Everybody’s not out to cut your throat and try to one up you all the time. Everybody watches everybody’s back. It’s a good place to start a business.
